The Norwegian tenor Magnus Staveland studied at the State Academy of Music in Oslo and the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen. He has appeared at opera houses and festivals such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Opéra Garnier in Paris, the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Opéra Garnier in Monaco, the Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels, the Berlin Staatsoper, the Norwegian National Opera, the Royal Danish Opera, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and the Innsbruck Early Music Festival.
He regularly works with such conductors as René Jacobs, Fabio Biondi, Alessandro De Marchi, Christophe Rousset, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Andrew Manze, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Andrew Parrot, Marc Soustrot, Simon Carrington, Gary Cooper, Eric Ericson, and Christoph Kühlwein.
Magnus Staveland’s operatic repertoire includes leading roles by Mozart, Gluck, Haydn, Cavalli, and Monteverdi. He is also a much sought-after concert and oratorio singer and appears regularly in concert venues and festivals throughout Europe.
